Oseno village residents resort to manually repairing of roads

Residents of Oseno village in West Sakwa location within Bondo sub-county have resorted to repair their roads manually after fruitless plea to the county government to have them repaired.

Led by Samuel Okong’o Nyamwanda and Martha Ochieng’, the residents decided to repair the 5 Kilometer Maranda-Oseno road which according to them, has been in a pathetic condition for a long period of time.

They lamented that the road was last repaired in the year 2018 but was shoddily done, a reason for it’s currentb sorry – state which according to them has not bothered the authorities.

Mzee Okong’o stated that despite the provisions of the Bills of Quantities that the road was to be graded, marrummed and culverts erected, nothing was done and the road has become impassable.

According to Mrs. Jane Oonje, the road that crosses to the nearby Usire Secondary school is also impassable and their numerous pleas and attempts to prioritize it for repair during the budget making process has often proved futile.

The residents who spoke to us on an exclusive interview have therefore pleaded to the county government through their Ward Representative Mr. Maurice Aringo to move with speed and find a solution to the problem.

When contacted for comment, West Sakwa Ward MCA Mr. Maurice Aringo admitted that indeed the road is in a pathetic condition after it was swept by the flash floods during the last rainy season but promised that they are doing all that they can to ensure the road is repaired.

He stated that they are contemplating to factor the repair of that road into the next budget.
