GOSPEL MOTIVATION

IT IS BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST

Ephesians 1:7” he is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his son and forgave our sins.”

Paul prayed for the believers to know God better. How do you get to know someone? It’s by reading biographical information or history about him.

That will help you know a lot about that person, but it will not enable you to actually know him. If you want to get to know someone, you have to spend time with them. The same holds true with God.

Read the bible, great works of theology and devotional materials, but there is no substitute for knowing God personally. The question here is, what about you? Do you know God?

Do you really know God or you only know about Him? The difference is spending time with Him.

To speak of Jesus blood was an important first century way of speaking of Christ’s death. His death points two wonderful truths, Redemption and Forgiveness.

Redemption was the price paid to gain freedom for the slave, through His death, Jesus paid the price to release us from slavery to sin.

Forgiveness was granted in the old testament times on the basis of the shedding of animal blood.{lev 17:11} how did the blood make atonement for sin? When offered with the right attitude, the sacrifice and the blood shed from it made forgiveness of sin possible.

On the other hand blood represented the life of a sinner, infected by sin and heading for death. On the other hand the blood represented the innocent life of the animal that was sacrificed in place of the guilty person making the offering.

The death of the animal (of which the blood was proof) fulfilled the penalty of death. God therefore granted forgiveness to the sinner. It is God who forgives based on the faith of the person doing the sacrificing.

Now we are forgiven on the basis of the shedding of Jesus’ blood. He died as a perfect and final sacrifice.
Hebrews 9:22” in fact, according to the Law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.”
Why does forgiveness require the shedding of blood? This is no arbitrary decree on the part of a bloodthirst God, as some have suggested.

There is no greater symbol of life than blood, blood keeps us alive, Jesus shed hi blood {gave his life} for our sins so that we would not have to experience spiritual death, eternal separation from God. Jesus is the source of life, not death. He gave his own life to pay our penalty for us that we might live.

After shedding his blood for us, Christ rose from the grave and proclaimed victory over sin and death.
Roman 5:9” and since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.”

The love that caused Christ to die is the same love that sends the Holy Spirit to live in us and guide us every day. The power that raised Christ from the dead is the same power that saved you and is available to you in your daily life. Be assured that, having begun a life with Christ, you have a reserve of power and love to call on each day for help to meet every challenge or trial. You can pray for God’s power and love as you need it.

Ephesian 2:13” but now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near him through the blood of Christ.”
Pious Jews considered all non-Jews ceremonially unclean. They thought of themselves as pure and clean because of their heritage and religious ceremonies.

Paul pointed out that Jews and gentiles alike were unclean before God and needed to be cleansed by Christ. In order to realize how great a gift of salvation is, we need to remember our former natural, unclean condition.

Have ever felt separate, excluded, and hopeless? These verse is for you, no one is alienated from Christ’s love or from the body of believers.

Colossian 1:20” and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”
Christ’s death provided a way for all people to come to God. It cleared away the sin that keeps us from having a right relationship with our creator.

That does not mean that has been saved but that the way has been cleared for anyone who will trust Christ to be saved. We can have peace with God and be reconciled to him by accepting Christ, who died in our place.
Is there a distance between you and the creator? Be reconciled to God. Come to Him through Christ.

1 peter 1:19 “It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless lamb of God.”
God ransomed us from the tyranny of sin, not with money, but with the precious blood of his own son.

We cannot escape from sin on our own, only the life of God’s son can free us.
Romans 6:6 “we know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.”

The power of sin over us died with Christ on the cross. Our “old sinful selves” our sinful nature, died once and for all, so we are freed from its power. The power of sin refers to our rebellious sin-loving nature inherited from Adam.

Though we often willingly cooperate with our sinful nature, it is not us but the sin in us that is evil.
And it is this power of sin at work in our life that is defeated.
Paul has already stated that through faith in Christ we stand righteous before God. Paul emphasizes that we need no longer live under sin’s power.

We will still like sinning and sometimes we will sin. The difference is that before we were saved we were slaves to our sinful nature, but now we can choose to live for Christ.

Galatians 2:20 “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the son of God.”
Because our sins died with HIM.
