Former employee of Rural Electrification Authority charged with 13 counts by EACC.

Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC) on 1st July 2020 charged Ms. Penina Wambui a former employee of Rural Electrification Authority with 13 counts.

According to reports from EACC, Ms. Penina was charged with forgery of academic certificates, altering false documents, fradulent acquisition of public property amounting to Ksh. 9, 455,256.99

Among the forged certificates included; Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) from Njoro Girls High School, Certificate in Environmental Impact Assesment and Audit from African Nazarene University, BS Degree Certificate from Maseno University and MA Environmental Chemistry from University of Nairobi.

The suspect used and presented the forged certificates for employment.

She pleaded not guilty after being arraigned in an Anti – Corruption court and was released on cash bail of KSh. 800,000, and or bond of KSh. 2 million.

The case is scheduled for mention today 2 July 2020 for pre – trial.
