Trump directs health officials to slow down Covid 19 testing.

US president on Saturday 20, directed health officials to slow down Covid 19 testing over increase in coronavirus cases in the country.

Trump said he told the officials to slow the testing down because ‘an increase in testing leads to an increase in coronavirus cases.’

“When you go testing to that extent, you’re gonna find more people, you’re gonna find more cases, so I said to my people slow testing down please. They test and they test. We have tests that people don’t know what’s going on.” He said.

Trump’s comments comes amid unrest in many states following rapid increase in the number of Covid 19 patients.

According to CNN analysis of data from John Hopkins university , by Thursday 18, at least 21 states had experienced an increase in the number of cases from one week to the next.

Tulsa county for example reported the highest cases totaling to 2,206 by Saturday afternoon according to Oklahoma state department of health.

Trumps sentiments have been termed as ‘kidding’ by an administration official who spoke to CNN.


The official said that it was obvious president Trump was kidding by calling for a slow down on Covid 19 testing.

The country has tested over 25 million people.

US it the most affected country globally with over 2.3 million confirmed cases, ,over 121,000 deaths and over 715,000 recoveries.
