Kisumu county has recorded three new positive covid – 19 cases.
According to county government of Kisumu, two of the three victims are truck drivers who had travelled from South Sudan to Uganda then to Kisumu through Busia boder.
The other victim was a woman who had traveled from Nairobi to Nyando sub county for a burial.
Kisumu county governor Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o who confirmed the report through a press statement, stated that the two drivers have been admitted in an isolation ward at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

“The two drivers were intercepted by public health surveillance team having travelled all the way from South Sudan into Uganda before proceeding to Kenya.” Nyong’o said.
He further added that the woman who tested positive for Covid -19 had been put in isolation facility in Nairobi.
According to Nyong’o, the 19 people who attended the same burial with the victim were screened and tested before the health team handed over the case to Nairobi Metropolitan surveillance team.
Nyong’o however clurified that no resident of Kisumu had tested positive for the virus terming all the cases as outsiders.
“We continue to urge the general public to adhere to all government directives and public health Covid – 19 containment measures.” He added.

Kisumu is among the few counties in Kenya that has not registered any positive Covid -19 case.
Kenya has so far recorded 1,214 confirmed cases with 383 recoveries and 51 deaths.
